"Nashville needs to be a leading city for sustainable living with clean air, clean water and plenty of preserved open space."--Mayor Karl Dean
The West Meade Conservancy is a non-profit dedicated to identifying and conserving the unique natural and cultural resources of our neighborhood in West Nashville, Tennessee. We recognize that West Meade contains several unique features that ought to be preserved.
- This neighborhood consists of an 800+ acre contiguous mature forest. Towering trees that exceed 200 years old, spring fed creeks, and a diverse community of plants and animals can be found here.
- This forest likely functions as the ecological bridge that connects Warner Parks and Radnor Lake to the surrounding forest communities.
- A two mile stretch of the Belle Meade Plantation wall from the 1800s winds through the neighborhood, and remains a significant artifact of Nashville's history.
On Earth Day, 2006, more than 60 neighbors and friends gathered to express how grateful we are for these treasures. From that meeting, the West Meade Conservancy was born to ensure their protection. We would like for the plants and animals to continue to thrive in these forests, and for future generations of people to enjoy them as we do.
